Abstract
This article looks at the problem of aging and the characteristics of institutional care in elder care homes. Also, the results of the empirical study carried out in 15 publicly owned and 15 privately runresidential homes for elderly persons distributed across Slovenia are presented here. The aim of this research was to determine the level of resident satisfaction in both privately orpublicly-owned residential homes. The research findings are the basis for the outlined improvement suggestions in residential home service delivery with the aim to increase resident satisfaction with staff performance.
